Related Posts Widget for Blogger / Blogspot
Now here is wonderful hack for displaying links to related posts beneath each of your blog posts. The related articles are chosen from other posts in that same category/label/tag. With this hack many of your readers will remain on your site for longer periods of time when they see related posts of interest.

- Replace the URL above with https://sites.google.com/site/widgetsforfree/scripts/Related_posts_hack.js
How to Add Related Posts Widget to Your Blog?
- Go to Layout >Edit HTML in your Blogger Dashboard.
- Back up your existing Template before making any changes!
- Make sure to check the "Expand Widget Templates" box.
- Search for the </head> tag.
- Add the following code just before the </head> tag.
- Now search for <data:post.body/>. In some of the templates this code may look like this

Customization
- In order to change the number of maximum related posts being displayed for each label, search for the code below (within the code given in step 7) and change the number "5" to any desired number.
max-results=5

Domforth, the error that you received doesn't have anything to do with this Related Posts Hack. What you need to do is go to layout and delete/remove all your link lists and when you're finished you can go back and add the links again if you prefer. When you're done with all this, you should be able to implement this hack into your blog.
I had a hard time finding all the search engine sites to submit my blog url. I have made a free list. Go to step #4.

Has SEO benefits too and is real easy to install. You just add a gadget to your layout and embed the code you're given and it's up and running. Daiquiri, it might be difficult to implement this into your blog because you have a customized blogger template. I will work on a more "universal" method to add this to your blog.

Hi. I searched for this hack on google, and found your site. I followed the instructions exactly as you wrote them, and save my template. When I click view, my site looks exactly the same as before with no related posts. I am not sure what to do now.
I have problems in section 7, I have pasted the code above and below and does not work you can help me? There is no code that ends in "search for" in my template.

Kathryn: I belive it is possible. But I haven't tried it myself so I'm not 100% sure. But try it for yourself because it's a great widget and you'd be missing a lot by not installing it.

-The change of the "max results" field doesn't work, I've set it to 4 but some posts show 5-6-7...
-every post shows as "related" itself! I mean his own title.

Two questions:
1) Can the font and size of "Related Posts" be modified?
2) The number of max posts doesn't seem to be working. I put in a max of 5, but many of the posts have lists ranging between 2-7. Any thoughts? I'd love to standardize this to make it 5.
Larissa, the related posts font size can be changed by searching for font-size : 20px; and the size of the links can be changed by searching for font-size : 11px;

The problem is that orange image is gone!somehow your photobucket is inactive!

you shouldn't need to change the code for custom domains. The blogspot URL that you spotted was probably just an image hosted at Blogspot.com
